Tiny Unit of Alcohol
Unit of alcohol, how much can I drink? Some doctors say that alcohol is more harmful than heroin or crack. Some doctors say that alcohol is good for your health. Nothing is a hundred percent good nor bad, always midway!
What is an alcohol unit?
One unit of alcohol equals -
- 10 grams of 100% alcohol equals 1 unit of alcohol. Likewise, one alcohol unit is 100 grams of 10% alcohol.
- One shot of whiskey is one unit of alcohol. Well, a bit less if they call 25 grams a shot.
Glass of wine is about two alcohol units, pint of ordinary beer is less than 3 units of alcohol.
What can we safely drink?
Recommended unit of alcohol, the government currently say that a woman should not drink more than 2..3 units of alcohol per day and a man 3..4 units a day. The top limit is for women 21 units per week and men 28 units then.
So, the officially approved weekly norm of alcohol allows to consume -
- Women - two bottles of wine and two beers. Or 8 pints of beer. Or 0.7 bottle of whisky assuming that they leave something for Monday morning.
- Men can do 11 pints of beer at the pub, or drink 4 bottles of wine, or 0.7 bottle of whisky plus a pint.
A wise advice - eat a lot when drinking. And do not forget vitamins, vitamins help you to enjoy alcohol until the high age. A little known fact about the old boozer Winston Churchill - at nights he used to sneak in to the larder and eat jam right from jar with a huge tablespoon. Not to remind you that the jam was real organic and free range stuff and packed with vitamins way back on these days.
